Covenant Congregational Church is a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church(ECC), a relational
network of churches that seeks to form and nurture
communities that are deeply committed to Jesus Christ
and passionately engaged in Christ’s mission in the
world.
The ECC is a rapidly growing multiethnic denomination
in the United Statesand Canada with ministries on five continents. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants,
the ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of
God's grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that
comes through a faith with Jesus Christ, the importance
of extending God's love and compassion to a hurting world,
and the strength the comes from unity within diversity.
The ECC is a movement of God in
local churches that is lived out:
• Biblically - through study of and transformation by God's Word
• Devotionally - in an intimate relationship with God
• Relationally - in the unity of the Body of Christ
• Missionally - friendship, compassion, mercy, justice and evangelism
The Evangelical Covenant Church comes out of historical Christianity through the Protestant Reformation. The church’s distinctive spirit has been further shaped by our early origins in the Lutheran Church of Sweden, the great spiritual awakenings of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and the more recent North American renewal movements. The EEC is committed to reaching across boundaries of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, age, and status.
